BACK IN BLACK - The Next Best Thing to AC/DC!

The BACK IN BLACK tribute band is an incredible, exciting, high energy reproduction of a concert performance of AC/DC. BACK IN BLACK stands above other AC/DC tribute bands because they include tribute performances of both Bon Scott and Brian Johnson. All the members of BACK IN BLACK live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and are experienced musicians who are not only dedicated to the sound and look, but also to capturing the power and excitement of AC/DC.

BACK IN BLACK was formed in late 2000 by former LA bandmates Mike Mroz (Angus) and Darren Caperna (Bon & Brian). Mike had always recognized the potential of this project due to Darren's uncanny ability to transcend both the spirit of Bon Scott and Brian Johnson into his voice. Ken Schiumo (drums), Ramiro Noriega (guitar), and Sheldon Conrad (bass) were recruited from other great Dallas bands.

BACK IN BLACK has headlined thousands of gigs, including at least one show in every House of Blues in the country. They have opened for or performed with such groups as Cheap Trick, Blue Oyster Cult, Grand Funk Railroad, Loverboy, Foghat, The All American Rejects and many more.

AC/DC Audition

In 2016, lead singer, Darren Caperna, was auditioned by AC/DC to fill in for the great Brian Johnson who was suffering from hearing loss. The 3-4 song audition turned into a 4 to 5 hour meeting with a rehearsal of the complete Rock or Bust Tour song list.

"My Stupid Tribute Band" - Documentary on Amazon Prime

"My Stupid Tribute Band," a documentary that follows the band's twenty-year history culminating with Darren Caperna auditioning for AC/DC, is now available on Amazon Prime. It's a heartwarming and fun account celebrating the lows and highs they have encountered throughout the years.
